Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt 2026

This year’s epic Easter egg hunt was a great success with the highest attendance yet and weather as good as it gets. As much competition and fun there was challenge and laughter; participants embraced the obstacles reflected on the maps which led them over and around the Stoney Mountains of the Phoenix Preserves. Aside from joyful smiles, the camaraderie and playfulness demonstrated by all was inspiring to witness and reminded me why I continue to host community events. As I’d mentioned to several folks during the treasure hunt, the real GOLDEN EGG is not the egg itself but being in the moment and enjoying the little things in life.

During our festivities, I’d some observations of the group including a few additional acknowledgments. While being a spectator may be suggested as the lesser in many arenas, there was something special about simply ‘sitting back’ to enjoy the show.

3 Observations

1.     We often keep from others our prized possessions. As though safeguarding with the assumption that others may seek to ask for or take away that which we’ve acquired or been gifted.

2.     We rush to and swarm the proximity where one may have discovered an egg- or something great- quick to assume there’s nothing more to be gained from that particular arena or endeavor and as a result, we move forward without consideration and awareness of potential opportunity.

3.     We’re too afraid to ask for help. As observed during the egg hunt, the individual who created the map (ME) with which attendees searched for treasured eggs was present throughout the entire duration of the activity. If unsure, ASK FOR HELP!

I’m guilty of it too… for example, the teacher who just taught the lesson remained sitting in the same room during the assignment, yet I failed to ask for assistance.

So, whether chasing after a dream job or a plastic egg, our success may be largely determined by our approach which is influenced based on previous experiences including interactions with others. If you find this being an area in your life that could use refinement, please message me directly to learn how I can help.

4 Acknowledgments

1.     The individuals who found an egg but gave it to a fellow seeker. This demonstrates a rare kind of selflessness nowadays. Hat's off to you!

2.     The few who still made the climb while knowing there are others ahead of them who are likely to retrieve the ‘treasure’ first. That speaks effort, and for that I honor you.

3.     Those who showed up without a care in the world about finding eggs, and instead chose to mingle, laugh, and enjoy the morning in the company of fellow humans. *As I'd mentioned, this is the GOLDEN EGG!

4.     A BIG SHOUTOUT and SPECIAL THANKS to DICKS HOUSE OF SPORT for sponsoring this year’s event- they donated 25 gift cards ranging from $5-$100 including experiences such as rock climbing, batting cages and golf simulation.

If only my output matched the famous energizer bunny, then I’d be hosting several of these all weekend long during this heavenly time of season. Since that is not the case, I will continue to prioritize a single hunt on the Saturday before Easter as way to honor holiday traditions, bring people together, and give rise to the faint spirit.
